Vintage Etsy - Dresses that Swish

September 02, 2009 Posted by - Mary Lois
When I got married, the dress was the hardest thing for me to figure out. I was an older bride, muy viejo, and some strapless number that looked even remotely prom-ish was not going to fly. And, I wanted to fly.
My husband listened to all my ramblings about loving texture and detail, wanting something girly but not young looking, the various cons of what was out there, this dress doesn't fit the venue, that is too serious, and various blah, blah, blahings. Imagine my shock when I realized he'd been listening the whole time, and actually had suggestions for what type of dress I should wear.
He said that I should wear something that moves well. He likes the way I move (and groove) and suggested that I wear something that had a lot of movement and accentuated my waist to hip ratio. Well, hello 50s dress. Swish, bang, boom. I couldn't find anything out there so I designed one myself. I'll have to post it some day.
But for now enjoy these Etsy finds I swiped from All Things Lovely.

Moody Blue - Lovely Shades for Bridesmaids Dresses

Blue-bridesmaids-dresses

Loop just did a wedding where the bridesmaids wore the Lela Rose turquoise dress in the middle row. It's a color that looks nice on a variety of skin tones and is quite an attractive silhouette. The flowers we created were shades of orange with accents of chocolate cosmos. All in all, it was a stunning picture...hopefully we'll have images soon.

Oh To Be A Sexy Maid

I love this board for bridesmaid style. It flirty and fun and wearable (again and again). I prefer the hairstyle of the blonde for a wedding...softer, less "professional".

Ribbons, and Pleats, and Lace, Oh My!

Since the bridal gown is often a starting point for the design of a wedding, I thought one of my first posts should be sharing some fabulous dresses. I really love some of the styles available these days. There's really a lot to see in the detailing. And I DO love the details. These dresses make me fall over; they are that beautiful. And the bride, the day of her wedding, I am such a cornball, I can get teary. It's just so moving. When does anyone ever get so dolled up in the name of love? Oy, let me get my hankie.

Copper and platinum - Bridesmaid Style Board

It's all about balance. The elegant dress is made more modern and fun with the addition of the necklace. Of course, with an accessory at the neck that has so much to say, we're keeping the earrings simple, and then tipping the scales again to fun and chic with a distinctive hair style. The shoes are a delicious complement to the whole ensemble. We chose a bouquet with a timeless and natural style, and kept the lines clean to harmonize with the classic modern look.
